Crescent City, a small town full of southern charm, sits amid a generous grove of live oak trees on a high wooded bluff between two lakes. Named for its crescent moon shaped lake, the third largest fresh water lake in Florida, the town was established in 1876, and incorporated in 1883. Crescent City was one of Florida’s major citrus growing areas in the 1890s, with 42 citrus growers by 1895..
A portion of the central district of the town was placed on the National Historic Register in 1996. There are a number of Victorian era homes in the historic district as well as churches and commercial buildings. The offices of Diabetes Home Care are listed as # 18 in the published Walking Tour Pamphlet. Click on the link below for a visit to our town.

Lake Crescent is 16,000 acres and is approximately 13 miles in length and 2 miles wide. It connects to the St. John's River on the North via Dunn's Creek. Lake George, connected to the St Johns River, the second largest fresh water lake in Florida is just to the west. The area has been designated the “Bass Capital of the World” and is host to numerous Bass Tournaments.

A photo journal tour of the St Johns River and surrounding communities is available by clicking on the link below.

The St. Johns River is born in marshes, then winds northward for 310 languid miles before flowing through Jacksonville. Florida's greatest waterway, a haven for manatees and mecca for bass fishing, is under siege by a burgeoning human population. Its challenges are many, but there is great hope. This is the story of a river returning

The St. Johns River was Florida's first tourist attraction. Although the steamboats that plied its waters in the 1800s have disappeared, the beauty and mystique of the river remain. Learn here how you can experience the great St. Johns River
